Just under one in five county households has registered for the septic tanks inspection

Today is the last day to register for the reduced fee of 5 euro and after today it will cost 50 euro

Up to midnight last night with just one day to go Galway county council had 8,911 systems registered which represents just 18 per cent of systems in the county

However council sources say they expect a surge in registrations today either at the county council offices or online
