A jury in the UK has heard new evidence in the trial of Peter Brown, the man accused of killing Claregalway apprentice jockey, Jamie Kyne.

The 37 year old denies two counts of murder, two counts of manslaughter and one charge of arson.

The jury heard that Peter Brown had been drinking at several pubs before he lit a fire at the entrance to the block of flats in which the Kiltrogue teenager died.

Fellow apprentice jockey 19 year old Jan Wilson from Scotland was also killed in the fire.

The court heard Brown was also said to have taken cocaine that night.
