Junior Health Minister says Galway hospitals must manage within resources available
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Junior Health Minister says Galway’s public hospitals need to maximise what they can get from the limited resources available.
Alex White says patient safety needs to remain a premium even though a huge amount of money has been taken out of the health budget.
The Junior Health Minister made the comments in Galway this week in response to INMO claims that the budget cuts will compromise patient care.
Over two and a half thousand patients have been treated on trollies at UHG and Portiuncula in Ballinasloe so far this year.
Today, 26 patients were on trollies at UHG – 19 in the A&E and 7 on wards.
Nationally, the trolley and ward comparison between 2012 and 2013 is up over 10 percent.
Speaking to FYI Galway, Alex White says patient safety must remain a priority.
