Juke ticks all the boxes
A new Nissan Juke has arrived in Ireland to continue the trend set by the original that has been around for nearly a decade. It says a lot about the car that it has remained in demand right up until the introduction of a new with almost 10,000 sold in Ireland.
Juke’s designers were faced with quite the challenge to follow in the tracks of its predecessor. After driving it abroad and more recently on Irish roads, this coupé-like compact Crossover/SUV is a real improvement on the original.
Nissan has decided to dispense with diesel and add completely new engine, a huge amount of technology, a larger boot, greater rear legroom and personalisation on top spec models.
It is offered in five different grades – XE, SV, SV Premium, SVE and N-Design – and every model comes with standard fit LED headlights, lighting that leaves many competitors in the shade.
While the new Juke has certainly grown up, the increase in physical size has resulted in a 5.8cm increase in rear knee room, 1.1cm greater rear headroom and an increase in luggage capacity by 68 litres to 422 litres. The new Juke is also 23kg lighter, 30mm wider, 75mm longer and the car’s wheelbase is 105mm longer.
As a nod to the original car, they have retained some of its unique design features, including the signature circular headlamps to give it an instantly recognisable face. These lights now feature a Y-shaped signature which complements Nissan’s trademark V-motion grille.
