JUDGEMENT IMMINENT ON LOUGHREA DEAF WOMANS HIGH COURT CHALLENGE

There are hopes a landmark ruling is imminent on a Loughrea deaf woman’s challenge to her exclusion from serving on a jury.

Joan Clarke was refused permission to serve on a jury at Galway Circuit Court in 2006 on the grounds she is deaf.

Mr Justice Daniel O’Keeffe is expected to deliver his judgement on her High court challenge shortly.
