JUDGE URGES DOLORES KEANE TO ATTEND GALWAY COURT

Traditional folk singer, Dolores Keane, was too ill to come to court today to face a charge of drink driving near her home last year.

The 58-year- old from Caherlistrane, is charged with drunken driving at Clonboo, on November 19, 2010.

Her solicitor, Eric Gleeson, told Galway District Court that Ms Keane is at home suffering from tonsillitis and problems with wisdom teeth and was unable to attend court.

He said his client was entering a plea to the charge and the case could proceed in her absence.
