JOB SEEKER CLAIMS IN GALWAY TO BE FAST TRACKED

New measures to speed up decisions on Jobseekers’ Benefit and Jobseekers’ Allowance applications are to be rolled out in Galway and 19 other Social Welfare Offices around the country.

The process will see staff record, register and decide on jobseekers’ claims in a single sitting.

The system was first trialled in Dundalk, where it led to a dramatic cut in the amount of time people had to wait to have their claims decided.

It will now be implemented in the Local Office in Galway city.
