‘Jes’ to get €10m funding windfall

THE Minister for Education Batt O’Keeffe is to announce a windfall of €10million for Coláiste Iognáid next week, the Galway City Tribune can exclusively reveal.

The funding — which has been sought by the school for several years — will allow for major works to be carried out on the Andrews block of the college.

The Board of Management at the school had a meeting with Minister O’Keeffe last week to discuss the need for funding and to impress upon him the urgency of their request.

While the Department of Education would not confirm yesterday that the funding will be announced next week, Fianna Fáil TD Frank Fahey said he had been assured by Minister O’Keeffe that the money was on its way to ‘The Jes’.
