Jake Clemons to showcase Fear and Love at Galway show

Bruce Springsteen is currently in the middle of a Broadway run, with some seats for his shows costing $850. And that was before the touts got a chance to add their own mark up!

Fortunately, tickets to see Jake Clemons, the saxophone player from the E-Street Band, are a lot cheaper. Clemons comes to the Róisín Dubh on Saturday, October 21, showcasing songs from his second solo album, Fear & Love.

The album was engineered by Clemons and Ryan Swinhart, and was engineered by Stu Young, whose CV includes working with Prince. It opens with Hold Tight, a song with drums and keys that bring to mind some of Springsteen’s work.  Clemons voice is his own, though, and it will appeal to fans of American rock in general.

Anyone who has been to a Bruce Springsteen show in recent years will have seen Jake in full flight. He has stepped into the role once occupied by his uncle Clarence Clemons, who died in 2011.

“I’d lost people before, but Clarence was a real cornerstone for me; he was really a father figure, and also a brother and a friend,” Jake says of his uncle’s death. “Three years earlier, he’d asked me to be best man at his wedding.”

Despite that loss, Jake continues to excel as a musician, touring across the globe with Springsteen, collaborating with Glen Hansard and releasing his own solo work. Expect a great show from this guy – he’s certainly been part of a few!
