INVESTIGATION INTO FERRY HOISTING ACCIDENT AT GALWAY DOCKS

An investigation is underway into why three men were on board a ferry which was being hoisted onto a cargo ship at Galway Docks this morning.

That’s the central question being asked by Harbour Master Brian Sheridan.

The three men were taken to hospital after the ferry crashed into the water after the sling snapped, narrowly missing the cargo ship.

The men are currently being assessed at University Hospital Galway, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
