INVESTIGATION FOLLOWING DISCOVERY OF DEVICE IN RENMORE

Gardai are not treating the discovery of a potentially viable device in Renmore last evening as suspicious.

An investigation is ongoing after the device was found in a back garden near the Army Barracks at around 3.30pm.

The Athlone Bomb Disposal Unit was drafted in to remove it from the scene and there were no injuries.

It’s thought it may be linked to the old army firing range.
