INVESTIGATION FOLLOWING AGGRAVATED BURGLARY IN WILLIAMSTOWN

An investigation is underway into an aggravated burglary at a pensioners’ home in the Williamstown area overnight.

Two bachelor men, both in their early 80s, were targeted by two masked raiders in their rural home at Ballyroe.

Two men wearing balaclavas and carrying implements entered the home of the bachelor pensioners at Ballyroe, the Ballymoe side of Williamstown at around 11 last night.

The pensioners were tied up but managed to free themselves and contact the emergency services at around 5 this morning.

It’s unclear how the raiders made their getaway and Gardai in Tuam are appealing for any withnesses to come forward on 093 – 70840.
