Interim Chairperson appointed to West Northwest Hospital Group board

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Dr. John Killeen has been confirmed as the interim chairperson of the West Northwest Hospital Group board.
His appointment follows the resignation of Noel Daly last week amid claims of a conflict of interest.
Dr. John Killeen, a Roscommon native, joined the board in 2013 and is an engineer by profession.
He will take on the voluntary role on an interim basis until the official appointment is made by the Minister of Health.
The former chairman Noel Daly resigned last week following claims of a conflict of interest.
Mr. Daly is a shareholder in a private healthcare company which carried out a survey of maternity services for the hospitals group.
In a statement, he said he took the decision because he does not want his personal and professional reputation or the reputation of the group compromised in any way.
The next meeting of the board will take place in Sligo Regional Hospital on July 1st.
The new interim chairperson was for unavailable for comment when contacted by Galway Bay fm news.
