Galway Arts Centre hosts an annual study day for Leaving Certificate Art History and Appreciation students as part of its ongoing education programme.

This year’s study day will be held on Friday, March 11, from 9am until 3pm at the city’s Nun’s Island Theatre.

The study day is intended as an intensive revision course, and not necessarily as an introduction to the topics covered in the Leaving Certificate syllabus.

The course will take the form of two concise lectures which cover Art in Ireland from Pre-Christian to Modern Times and European Art from 1000AD to Present.

Following this, there will be a visit to Galway Arts Centre where the focus will be on Art Appreciation and Exhibition Layout/Design, so that the students will be equipped to answer the ‘Visit to an Art Gallery’ question in Section III.

The price per student is €3 and a relevant handouts for each theme, designed in conjunction with The National Gallery of Ireland, will also be provided.

Spaces are limited and early booking is advised. For further information, contact info@galwayartscentre.ie, visit www.galwayartscentre.ie or call 091 565886.
