Inspection recommends end of life training at Carraroe nursing home

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Nurses at a HSE run nursing home in Carraoe are to receive training in end of life discussions following a recent inspection.
The Health Information and Quality Authority’s unannouced inspection was conducted at Aras Mhic Dara nursing home on June 18th last.
The report found that while residents received a good standard of care in their final days, improvement was required in the assessment and recording of end of life wishes.
The report states that nursing staff will avail of end of life care training by the end of the year.
It further states that all care plans will be reviewed and developed by January of next year to include documented assessments of residents end of life and palliative care wishes.
