A Ballinasloe teenager was taken to hospital on the boot of a Garda car after snorting what he thought was cocaine.

An inquest into the death of 19-year-old Darragh Walsh-Ring of Dunlo Harbour, Harbour Road, Ballinasloe, heard that he had a fit and lost consciousness on September 17th 2010.

According to today’s Irish Independent, Dublin City Coroner’s Court heard that Darragh Walsh-Ring had snorted lignocaine at a friend’s house in Ballinasloe.

It’s a heart drug, often used as a local anaesthetic.

Gardaí say the lignocaine was not stolen in the Ballinasloe area.
