INMO claims budget cuts will compromise Galway public hospital patient care

The Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation released the figures today claiming that health budget cuts of 666 million euro will compromise patient care.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say that nationally, the trolley and ward comparison between 2012 and 2013 is up over 10 percent.

It’s now calling on the Government to explain why it ignored revenue raising public health measures, including a tax on sugary drinks.

In a statement the INMO says the inevitable outcome of these two contradictory strategies will be a wholly inadequate, and underfunded, health service unable to cope with the demands of a population.

The organisation is now asking the Government to explain why it’s ignoring revenue raising health measures.
