English indie-rock band Echotape play Monroe’s Live on Sunday, March 15. Echotape was formed in 2011by a group of like-minded people from the music scene from Wallop, Hampshire, who began to write songs that reflected their convictions and their proud DIY-approach.

In the spring of 2011, one of their early demos found its way into the hands of Killing Joke founder and bassist, the  legendary producer Martin Glover, better known as Youth. He has worked with Dido, The Verve, and is one-half of The Fireman along with Paul McCartney.

Youth invited Echotape to his studio in the hills outside Grenada, Spain and in just one week, there they laid down 17 tunes, recording everything live.

Echotape’s first release was a four-song EP entitled Sky Above Quarley Hill and their debut single, Unstable, went on to chart in the US college radio top 200. In April 2013, the lads released their debut album, Collective, which was picked up by radio stations in the US, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Peru and the UK. This came after performances in Hollywood, a headline tour of the UK and Ireland, and a stadium-support tour with Russian super-group Mumiy Troll.

Echotape’s single Whiskey Bar, released last October, received extensive airplay on BBC Radio 2, while their new single, See You Soon was released this week.
