Indie pop with a fresh edged from Galway-based duo

GALWAY based duo Go Panda Go will play The Cellar, Eglington Street on Saturday, June 6. Paul Willis and Sean Bushell have been playing music together for a while but only made the decision to concentrate solely on original songs recently.

“We’ve been friends for years,” says Paul. “We were in a cover band together back home in Donegal. I finished college [in Dublin] and I was at home for a few weeks and the two of us got together and started jamming and we came up with the idea of starting something new.”

Go Panda Go are less than a year old but have already played some of their own shows as well as support slots in Galway. Paul explains the type of sound they’re after.

“It started officially last summer. We were just sitting in the house with two acoustic guitars, getting ideas. Something poppy, but something different. We both had a clear desire to do something slightly different but also something that might get on the radio, songs you can hum along to, in an indie sort of way. Something that’s less manufactured.”
