‘Illegally’ demolished house sold

Serious concerns have been raised over the sale of the site of a house demolished in Shantalla a number of months ago.

Councillor Colette Connolly, who is also PRO for the Shantalla Residents’ Association, believes the demolition of the house at 1 Carrick Road in Shantalla was unlawful and claims the owner and developer, Margaret Linnane, only had planning permission to demolish a single-storey side extension.

In June Galway City Council informed the owner and developer of the demolished house that the action was “unauthorised” and that the building had to be reinstated.
