Ice cool Galway singer wins star search

GALWAY teenager John Gaughan opted for a Beatles classic to blow away the opposition as the budding singer and actor took the top prize in RTE’s latest search for a star – through their afternoon television show ICE.

The 14 year old Kilcolgan drew massive praise from XFactor Judge Louis Walsh, Grease star Susan McFadden and 2FM DJ Cormac Battle, as his version of Let It Be saw off the four other finalists on Bank Holiday Monday.

The first year student Gort Comprehensive School had already enjoyed considerable fame in both music anddrama – but this time his talent saw him walk away with the ICE Star Search title, the
grand prize of a holiday voucher worth €3,000 and the ICE trophy.
