Hurling Board to carry out full review after Waterford debacle

IN the wake of yet another disappointing championship campaign by the Galway senior hurlers, the Hurling Board has moved to carry out a detailed analysis of the local game and is seeking to engage with clubs and the greater hurling fraternity within the county.

A meeting took place of the officers of the Hurling Board on Monday evening to discuss matters relating to the poor performance of the Galway senior team against Waterford in the All-Ireland quarter-final and contemplate the zealous reaction that has followed.

Accordingly, in advance of completing the evaluation of current manager, John McIntyre’s position, it has been agreed to carry out a root and branch review. The consensus among officials is that the structure of Galway hurling – and its failings – must first be discussed and, at the end of the process, a review of personnel can take place.
