‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ at Junior Film Fleadh
A special screening of the multi-award-winning family film, ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’, will take place on Saturday, November 12, during the Junior Film Fleadh
This coming-of-age drama-comedy from Taika Waititi (What We Do in The Shadows, and the forthcoming Thor: Ragnarok for Disney/Marvel) is suitable for ages 12 and older. It won the audience award for Best International Feature Film at the Galway Film Fleadh in July as well as garnering awards and nominations at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival and Seattle International Film Festival.
In Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Ricky (Julian Dennison) is a defiant city kid who finds himself on the run with his cantankerous foster uncle (Sam Neill) in the New Zealand bush. A national manhunt ensues, and the two are forced to put aside their differences and work together. Funny, endearing, and smart, Hunt for the Wilderpeople has been billed as ‘the family film of the year’ and the Junior Film Fleadh will present its only Galway screening.
The Junior Fleadh will run from next Wednesday November 9, to Saturday, November 12, screening the best in World Cinema to young audiences. It will also provide a platform for some of the country’s best young filmmakers to exhibit their work and will host workshops to help them develop their craft.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople is on Saturday, November 12, at 12.30pm in the Town Hall Theatre in a family screening.
