Several hundreds turned out in Tuam today to honour those who died in the September 11 attacks of 2001 and in particular Tuam native Ann-Marie McHugh.

The Town Council laid a wreath at the Garden of Remembrance at Chapel Lane following memorial mass at Tuam Cathedral.

Ann-Marie’s parents expressed their gratitude to all involved and the Mayor Mary Loftus recited a few lines of a WB Yeats poem "The Stolen Child".

Moments of silence will be observed in the US to coincide with the exact times that the hijacked planes hit in 2001, starting at 1-46 this afternoon.
