HSE WEST PRAISED FOR REDUCING INPATIENT WAITING LISTS
Date Published: 08-Oct-2012
Galway and Roscommon University Hospital Group has seen almost 14 thousand in-patients in order to achieve targets set down by the Special Delivery Unit.
The target sets out that adults should wait no longer than nine months, children should wait no longer than 20 weeks, and that scope patients should be seen within 13 weeks.
CEO of the hospital group Bill Maher says it’s a significant milestone to achieve in the nine month period since January of this year.
He adds that the target was achieved due to the integration of all hospitals within the group and the introduction of new measures such as waiting list validation.
Almost 10 thousand of these inpatients were cleared from the waiting list at University Hospital Galway.
City Cllr and Chairperson of the HSE West Regional Forum has commended the work led by Mr. Maher.
