HSE WEST OVERSPENDS BUDGET BY 25 MILLION

The HSE West has gone more than twenty-five million euro over budget in the first quarter of this year.

Hospitals in the Galway / Roscommon group had an overspend of seven point five million in the first quarter, while commnunity services in Galway / Roscommon had gone over-budget by two point zero three million in the first three months of the year.

At this months regional health forum meeting, Liam Minihan, assistant national director of finance, said delays in private insurance pay-outs were causing a cash-flow shortfall within the HSE.

The HSE is owed at least thirty million euro from private health insurance companies.
