HSE WEST DRAFTS IN STAFF TO CLEAR SCHOOL ALLOWANCE BACKLOG

The HSE is drafting in extra staff in Galway and the West to clear the backlog of back to school allowance applications.

The Irish Times is reporting the turnaround time for applications in Galway has more than doubled in the past week from 11 days to 30 days, according to the HSE figures.

More than half of families that applied for the means tested clothing and footwear scheme in Galway have not received the payment.
