HSE URGED TO IMPLEMENT VISITING GUIDELINES AT GALWAY HOSPITALS

The HSE West is being called on to publicise guidelines for visiting patients in hospitals in Galway.

Councillor Michael Mullins raised the issue at a meeting of the Regional Helath Forum this week.

He says it has been raised with him on numerous occasions that large numbers of visitors in wards is not best practice and not in the best interests of patients.

The HSE says that visiting times and restrictions at Galway hospitals are in line with National Visiting Guidelines.

Councillor Michael Mullins is urging the HSE to publicise these guidelines to ensure patient safety and staff efficiency is at its best.
