HSE TO RELOCATE TOGHERMORE RESIDENTS WITHIN EAST GALWAY AREA

It’s anticipated that all residents from Toghermore House in Tuam will be relocated to mental health residential units in the East Galway Mental Health Services area.

The HSE West says this is where there is additional capacity.

The winding down of the 18 bed residential facility follows an independent fire and safety report delivered to the HSE last month (Dec), which revealed fire safety shortfalls.

None of the 16 residents have been relocated to date as discussions with clinicians continue.

The HSE has once again stressed that Toghermore Residential House does not comply with minimum fire standards and therefore poses a risk to both residents and staff.
