HSE to meet unions today over closure of Ballinasloe psychiatric unit
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The HSE West is to meet with trade unions today to discuss the planned closure of St.
Brigid’s psychiatric unit in Ballinasloe.
The 22 acute bed ward will be wound down later this year and will instead be used to provide enhanced community based mental health care.
The reconfiguration means 22 such beds will be maintained in Roscommon while 35 beds will remain in the city.
Meanwhile, Junior Minister and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon is to meet with Health Minister James Reilly and Minister Kathleen Lynch next month to voice his concerns regarding the impending closure.
