The HSE has agreed to meet with the Brothers of Charity Galway and a parents group to discuss the effect of massive spending cuts on patients in their care.

The organisation’s 2010 budget is being slashed by 2 and a half million euro.

There are proposals to close two community homes in Galway and cut respite services.

Following this week’s Regional Health Forum, city councillor Padraig Conneely says the HSE has now agreed to meet with the charity and a parents group to see what can be done.
