HSE to appoint registrar for Portiuncula Emergency Department

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The HSE is seeking to recruit an Emergency Department registrar for Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

In reply to a question raised at a meeting of the Regional Health Forum West, General Manager of Portiuncula Hospital Chris Kane said there is a national shortage of registrars in emergency medicine.

Portiuncula currently has 6 Senior House Officers in emergency medicine.

Three have been recruited since July this year, and three posts are filled by agency doctors.

The hospital is also seeking to recruit GPs who may be able to provide sessions in the Emergency department.
