HSE PUBLISHES SERVICE PLAN FOR GALWAY ROSCOMMON HOSPITAL GROUP
Date Published: 28-Feb-2013
The Galway Roscommon Hospital Group is faced with a financial challenge of 26 million euro this year due to forecasted expenditure.
The figure was revealed at a meeting of the HSE West Regional Health Forum this evening (Feb 28) where the group’s service plan was discussed.
The Galway Roscommon Hospital Group has received a 7 percent increase in its budget when compared to last year which equates to an additional 20.9 million euro.
This leaves its budget for 2013 at 318.5 million euro.
However Group CEO Bill Maher has warned that expenditure is forecase at 344.5 million which would leave a shortfall of 26 million.
This is to be addressed through other sources of funding such as deferring procurement of medical equipment and income from private patients once legislation has been introduced which allows the group to invoice private patients in public beds.
