Galway Bay fm newsroom – Management at Galway’s public hospitals is to meet with management of the acute psychiatric unit at St.

Brigid’s Hospital in Ballinasloe.

It follows a meeting with local TDs and members of the HSE West Health Forum, where concerns were raised about the closure of the 22-bed acute care mental health unit.

A protest rally is planned outside the Dáil on September 18th as a local deputation meets Junior Minister at the Department of Health, Kathleen Lynch.

Roscommon Independent T.D, Denis Naughton says the impact of the closure in Ballinasloe will put extra pressure on an already busy A&E department at UHG.
