Galway Bay fm newsroom – HSE management will meet with concerned locals in Tynagh in the coming weeks to discuss the future of the health centre.
It follows a recent public meeting at which concerns were raised about the possible loss of the service.
Doctors operating the centres at Tynagh and Gurteeny have been advised that the facilities are to be put up for auction and that alternative arrangements should be made for clinics.
The HSE says the decision is part of the overall policy to develop modern facilities in primary care centres.
Galway East TD Paul Connaughton has organised a meeting with HSE management to urge them to retain the Tynagh health centre and provide additional services.
The meeting will take place in the centre on July 7th.
Deputy Connaughton says locals want the HSE to listen to their concerns.
