The HSE West says it cannot replace the public health nurse in Corrandulla while there is a recruitment embargo in place.

The nurse attached to the facility is on leave and patients are being sent to Turloughmore Health Centre in the meantime.

The health centre in Corrandulla is in a poor condition and Tuam Area Cllr Mary Hoade says locals are concerned that the centre could be shut down permanently.

In a statement to Galway Bay fm News, the HSE says the moratorium on public sector recruitment is in place and the public health nurse cannot be replaced.
