HP GALWAY CONFIDENT OF SECURING PERMISSION FOR NEW BUILDING

Hewlett Packard says it’s confident of securing planning permission to develop a new high tech facility to replace its existing plant in the city.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny visited HP at the Ballybrit business park today, where it’s hoped construction could get underway in the coming months.

However, planners are still assessing the application for the new software centre, which is being objected to by neighbouring company, American Power Conversion.

Staff at the current facility will move to the new European Software Centre, once it’s up and running, and the old building will close.

It’s expected that over a hundred construction jobs could be created if the building gets the go ahead.
