A multi million euro housing development at Terryland in the city has got the go-ahead.

Developers Coman Gaughan and Seamas Egan have been granted permission by An Bord Pleanala to build 40 residential units on a 3 acre site at Tirellan Cross.

The development got the go-ahead from Galway city council but the decision was appealed to An Bord Pleanala by a number of local residents.

Residents claimed the development would be ‘inappropriate’ and out of character with the area.

However the Bord has upheld the city council’s decision, granting permission for 26 houses, 17 apartments, and landscaping on the site at Tirellan cross.
