The Irish Hospice Foundation says it’s not happy the Galway Hospice homecare team is being totally funded by the voluntary sector.

It’s claiming staff and bed shortages have affected the specialist care of patients who are dying.

The organisation is hoping to raise two and a half million euro in voluntary funds in a coffee morning next month.

Eugene Murray from the Irish Hospice Foundation says while the majority of funding for hospice services comes from the government, voluntary funding is still vital, especially in Galway.
