Homes to get €300 for lead pipes replacement

HOUSEHOLDERS whose water supply has been contaminated by the use of lead pipes may be offered grants of up to €300 for pipe replacement work.

The scheme is to help qualifying homeowners to replace lead water service connections from the boundary stopcock to the kitchen sink tap – the grant is to cover up to 60% of the approved cost subject to a maximum of €300.

However, the grant is restricted to low-income households which already qualify for a waiver of refuse charges.
