ABOUT 100 houses and an hotel in the Wellpark/Dublin Road area have been served with a boil water notice by the City Council.

The notice comes after a number of householders in the Wellpark Grove area of the city complained of colour and odour problems in their water supply.

Yesterday a spokesman for the City Council told the Sentinel that they were awaiting the result of tests carried out on the water supply to help them determine the cause of the problem.

As well as the houses, the Carlton Hotel has also been affected by the ‘boil water’ notice, which will stay in place until the cause of the problem has been established.

Householders complained of odour and colour problems with the water which we are investigating.

“Once we receive the results of tests on the water, we will be in a better position to determine the cause of the problem,” said a spokesman for the City Council.
