Batman takes to skies over Galway
Pow! Bam! Zap! – Galway’s criminals better watch out as Batman stalks the city skyline as if it were Gotham.
A County Galway studio has created a spectacular and realistic 3D Batman costume that has fans of the superhero raving.
The costume, pictured here by photographer Kamil Krawczak, is the creation of Order 66 Creatures and Effects workshop which is based in An Spidéal.
The owner of the ‘cosplay’ business is Julian Checkley, who specialises in life-size costumes and effects for TV and film in the Connemara Gaeltacht.
Last year, the Spiddal studio created Darth Malgus and Wookiee costumes from Star Wars which were widely acclaimed and already the Batman costume is causing quite a stir online as it coincides with the Warner Bros release of Batman Arkham Knight computer game.
The release is hugely anticipated by gamers and fans of Batman the world over, and the real-life costume has attracted huge attention online.
The costume took around four weeks to create and involved using 3D printed urethane parts that were scanned from the computer game in collaboration with prototyping firm Tundra Designs and effects company Gauntlet FX in Canada.
This allowed the creators to fully replicate what is seen on screen by gamers.
