Hollywood star’s Galway visit
Golden Globe-winning actress Emily Blunt spent her day off from filming her latest movie in Mayo to take a trip to Galway at the weekend – and grab the best brunch in town!
The British-born star is currently filming a movie called Wild Mountain Thyme in both Ballina and Crossmolina – but she headed south of the border for her day’s R&R on Sunday.
The movie, which is produced by Mayo native Martina Niland from Aughagower, also stars Jamie Dornan, Jon Hamm and Christopher Walken and is directed by John Patrick Shanley.
Emily – best known for the Devil Wears Prada and, more recently, the Girl on the Train – had one of her team ring ahead to book a table at Caprice Café beside St Nicholas’ Cathedral.
But she quietly showed up without any fuss or entourage to enjoy a little quiet time looking down into the grounds of the adjacent church.
Asked what brought her to the Caprice in particular, Emily told owner Vicky Casey that she found the restaurant herself while researching Galway.
“She told me that she found the restaurant after she Googled ‘best brunches in Galway’ – and when she saw Caprice, she wanted to come,” said Vicky.
