HMV could consider re-opening Galway store
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The company that bought HMV could consider re-opening a store in Galway, if an initial 4 shops trade well.
Hilco restructured the company after it went into administration in January, and will re-open 4 stores within the next fortnight.
Three will be in Dublin, with a fourth in Limerick.
The HMV store at Edward Square in the city closed in January and pharmacy chain Cara, will open in the premises next month.
120 positions at the 4 re-opened shops have already been filled – roughly 70 of those jobs were given to original employees of the music chain.
Managing Director of Excel Recruitment, Barry Whelan, was in charge of hiring – he says Hilco wants to gauge public reaction before deciding what to do with the remaining 12 shops.
