HIQA PUBLISHES TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR SAVITA INQUIRY

HIQA’s published the terms of reference for its investigation into the care and treatment given to Savita Halappanavar.

The 31 year old died last month at University Hospital Galway, after suffering a miscarriage and contracting septicaemia.

Her family claim she was repeatedly refused a medical termination.

They have now begun the process of taking a case to the European court of human rights seeking a sworn public inquiry.

The HIQA investigation is taking place alongside the HSE’s clinical review and a coroner’s investigation.
