‘High risk’ paedophile looks for a job in Galway

Convicted British paedophile Sean Johnson went in search of work around Galway City after his dramatic early release from prison last week.

Bogus talent auditions for children as young as seven which he held in Galway last year were frighteningly similar to ones he was caught running in England in 2009, when a judge branded him a ‘high risk’ to children.

The 34-year-old – who also uses the names Alex Reid, Alex Quinn and Sean Letman – called into several city centre shops and eateries in search of casual employment immediately after he was allowed to walk free from Galway Courthouse on Wednesday of last week.

It’s understood that he had not taken any personal belongings with him for his appeal in the Circuit Court against the severity of his 10-month sentence, which was imposed after he failed to notify Gardaí in Mill Street that he was living in the city – a legal requirement as he is on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

He was brought to court by prison officers from Castlerea and was visibly surprised when Judge Rory McCabe released him after he served just two months of the sentence.

One employee in a city centre premises told the Galway City Tribune that Johnson visited the shop last Wednesday, and came to people’s attention because he skipped the queue of customers to ask for a job.

Mystery now surrounds his whereabouts after his failure to secure work, although Gardaí have refused to comment.
