A year of full-time training and no injuries paid off handsomely forAthenry athlete Paul Hession when he became the fastest rishman in history over 100 metres at Kalamata, Greece, on Saturday
night.

The 24-year old smashed Paul Brizzel’s seven year old Irish record (10.35) by winning his first outdoor race of the season in a time of 10.28.

Just one hour later, Hession also won the 200m race in a time of 20.67, which was just short of the personal best of 20.56 he ran in Malmo, Sweden, last year.
