Hession does it again

THREE weeks after becoming the fastest ever Irishman over 100 metres, Athenry athlete Paul Hession did it again at the weekend when he bagged a gold and a silver medal at the Europa Cup in Vaasa, Finland.
The 24-year old broke the record he set in Greece at the start of the month when he finished second behind Guus Hoogmoed (10.15) of Holland in a time of 10.18.
Hession,who smashed Paul Brizzel’s seven year old record in his first outdoor event of the summer, knew instinctively that he had gone under 10.20 for the first time in his life on Saturday.
“It was brilliant,” he told Tribune Sport. “I expected I’d do well if I got the right weather and wind. It was a close race and I reckon I’d have beaten
Hoogmoed if it had gone on for another 20 metres. I was right beside him and I knew it was a fast time.
