Hermitage Green mark new album with Róisín shows
Hermitage Green return to Róisín Dubh on Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27. After six months of writing, and steered by the production talents of Philip Magee (The Academic, Kodaline, The Script, Declan O’ Rourke), the Limerick band released Save Your Soul on the Sony label earlier this month.
Hermitage Green have put in the hard slog on the live circuit, touring ever further afield with shows in Australia, South Africa, New York, Canada, Dubai and France. The band’s first Australian jaunt was just over three years ago, and it’s a trip that bassist and lead-singer Barry Murphy recalls fondly.
“We went over for five weeks,” says Barry. “It was unreal, wild. We chanced our arm, got 13 gigs out there and we sold out every one of them. There are a lot of Irish there, but looking at the numbers I couldn’t get over it. The plan was to get away for a while. We had done a lot of touring around the country, so it was nice to get a break. It was brilliant, a really good trip.”
The band have gone from strength to strength since, with their music being used to soundtrack RTÉ’s Second Captains sports show and the welcome backing of Sony Music. As Hermitage Green’s star ascends, demand for these gigs is bound to be high.
Tickets €20/€18, 9pm Saturday/8pm Sunday.
