Galway Bay fm newsroom – A helpline has been set up for patients of University Hospital Galway who are concerned about possible wrong blood group diagnosis.

The Irish Medicines Board notified the Health Service Executive that a “field safety notice” had been issued in relation to a small number of products.

According to today’s Irish Times, almost 300 children in Ireland may have been incorrectly blood-grouped.

Five hospitals in Ireland were identified as possibly having used potentially mislabelled kits between February and June this year.

They are in Galway, Cavan, Sligo, Limerick and the Rotunda in Dublin.

The HSE has set up an information line on 1850 241 850 for anyone concerned.
